Protecting the natural resources through reforestation
Our mission is to create an ecologically sound development with amenities in an elegant and private community. Our commitment is to reforest these former cattle pasture areas with trees and plants native to Costa Rica, especially endangered species. We plan to do so in a way that will re-establish wildlife corridors throughout the property.
We encourage our neighbors to join us in our commitment to continual reforestation and preservation of the natural habitat of the animals that live in the wooded areas of Costa Verde Estates. Our on-staff landscaper can also act as a consultant on any reforestation project our buyers care to undertake to improve wildlife habitat on their lots. Our goals are to observe and preserve the natural resources, while creating a warm and inviting community with diverse opportunities and breathtaking views.
Surrounded by ocean and mountains Costa Verde Estates has several crystal-clear streams and refreshing waterfalls on the property. Because of the proximity of the ocean and mountains, there are cool breezes throughout the day and night. On a normal day, you may find howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, parrots, toucans and many of the 300 different species of birds found in this region. The Southern Pacific Zone of Costa Rica has seen extensive deforestation by cattle ranchers in the last few decades. The majority of the 1,250 acres in Costa Verde wEstates has been used as cattle pasture until recently. However, When we acquired the property in May 2006, we inherited some beautiful patches of primary and secondary rain forest. We, the owners of Costa Verde Estates, saw the potential to protect and expand these priceless natural areas.
People often associate "real estate development" with degradation of land, destruction of natural habitat and the inevitable loss of biodiversity -- fewer bird, mammal and tree species. We don't believe that scenario has to take place. In fact, as long-time developers in this area, we have created other communities that are models of how denuded cattle land can be reforested and allowed to regenerate into viable wildlife habitat.
