Driving from San José, Costa Rica
Costa Verde Estates is in the beautiful Southern Pacific Zone of Costa Rica, Central America. The community is located 4 km east of the Costenera del Sur highway, or coast highway, 9 km south of Dominical and 9 km north of Uvita. We recommend renting a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
Driving from San José, you have the option of taking the coastal route or the mountain route. The coastal route will take you through Atenas, Jaco, Quepos, then Dominical. The improvements on the 45 km stretch of highway between Quepos and Dominical are almost completed, making this route fast, smooth and pleasant. The 2-km gravel section just north of Dominical should be completed this year. This route takes about 3.5 hours from the San Jose airport.
The mountain route takes you almost to Cartago, then to San Isidro de General and on to Dominical. The entire way is paved and scenic, taking about 4 to 4.5 hours of driving time.
The road to Costa Verde Estates is located directly across the Costanera highway from the Cuna de Angel hotel. An alternate entrance is the road by the San Martin Sur bus stop. The pink bus stop shelter has a distinctive fish mosaic design. Drive up to the “Escaleras Crossroads” intersection, take a hard right, then take a left on the paved road uphill at the sign for Costa Verde Estates.
